Admission Requirements at Ca'Foscari

As a general rule, international candidates must hold a valid secondary school qualification obtained after at least 12 years of schooling. Candidates entering SUPERNOVA with 12 years of schooling may apply to enter programs at Ca’ Foscari after successfully completing the program in only one semester.

Candidates entering SUPERNOVA with only 11 years of secondary schooling must complete two semesters of the Foundation Program, in order to complete the required criteria. In particular, the following candidates must attend the program for one year to be eligible for admission to a bachelor’s degree program at Ca’ Foscari: 

  • Students who have less than 12 full years of schooling at the end of high school and have (or will shortly have) their school leaving certificate; 
  • Students who studied in the American school system and got (or will get) their High School Diploma, but do not have the three Advanced Placement exams required to enrol at an Italian university; 
  • Students who have completed their studies within the British school system and got (or will get) their General Certificate of Education/A-levels, but do not have the three A-levels required to enrol in their chosen degree programme at an Italian university; 
  • Students who have a vocational qualification obtained after 12 year of schooling.

Candidates must be eligible for admission to a bachelor’s degree program at Ca’ Foscari after successfully completing SUPERNOVA. In particular, for undergraduate programs taught in English, candidates must complete and successfully pass an online test related to their desired area of knowledge during their final period at SUPERNOVA before being admitted. For undergraduate programs taught in Italian, the on-line extra exam is not necessary, but candidates must certify their fluency in Italian at the minimum level B2 (although C1 is strongly recommended).

Admission requirements are subject to regular updates by the Italian Ministry of University and Research and by Ca’ Foscari, and they may vary from year to year. It is the candidates’ responsibility to make sure they have read and understood the admission requirements, procedures and deadlines on Ca’ Foscari website.  

Requirements apply to the following qualifications: 

  1. US High School Diploma: candidates holding a High School Diploma must have also passed at least three US “Advanced Placements” (APs) with a score from 3 to 5, in three different subjects related to the bachelor’s degree program(s) they wish to apply for; 
  2. General Certificate of Education (GCE) / International General Certificate of Education (IGCE): candidates holding a GCE/IGCE must have passed at least three A Levels in three different subjects related to the bachelor’s degree program(s) they wish to apply for; 
  3. The Diploma of the International Baccalaureate allows access to higher education in Italy as long as the final qualification, issued by an educational institution recognised by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO), meets the following general requirements: at least 24 points in six subjects of choice, 12 of which must be obtained at “Higher Level”; pass awarded in the three principal subjects: Theory of Knowledge (TOK), Creativity, Action, Service (CAS) e Extended Essay (EE).
